Case Study

Acoustic Phonebooth

Innovation

Following success on a previous project where we designed sound absorbing wall panelling for airports, a client wanted a bespoke acoustics phone booth incorporating bench seating. This would require the design of sound absorptive surfaces throughout.

For the sound-absorptive panelling, the main challenge lay in designing a solution that can pass the highest fire retardancy tests, whilst ensuring maximum reduction of “noise”. Exhaustive testing was carried out on a range of panelling designs incorporating different materials, to assess both sound absorption and, perhaps more importantly, fire retardancy. We found a suitable – and safe – solution. The project was a success!
