Imperial College London
Innovation
These 12 sofas we made for Imperial College are no ordinary sofas. Our team were tasked with the job of designing and creating, from scratch, ‘student proof’ sofas with unbreakable frames. We came up with various methods of making this so, including using 22mm plywood instead of chipboard and adding extra strength to all the joints. The original sofas were not only regularly breaking (and their buttons popping out!) but were drab to look at. We decided to spice things up by using gorgeous Chieftan faux leather in ‘ginger snap’ and ‘mulled wine’. The end result was a collection of good-looking ‘student-proof’ sofas that popped with colour and looked fab in situ.
